Loupe

A hand-curated gallery of the best design on the web — websites, apps and visuals, each tagged with its fonts, colors and style. Anyone can submit, but everything passes an editorial approval queue first, so the quality bar never drops.

Case Study

The Challenge

Design inspiration is everywhere and strangely useless. Pinterest boards, Dribbble shots and endless screenshot folders give you the picture but none of the information — what font is that, which exact colors, who made it. You can admire the work, but you can't learn from it or borrow the taste. And the category is owned by big incumbents, so a new gallery can't win on "we have screenshots too."

My Approach

Loupe is a hand-curated gallery where every piece carries the details that actually help. You paste a source link and the preview renders itself — a website, app, image or video. Each entry is tagged with its fonts, its color palette (shown as real swatches), its style, and credit to the maker. Browse by newest or popular, filter by type. Anyone can submit work, but everything lands in an editorial approval queue first — so the quality bar, which is the whole point, never drops.

The Design

Light, clean and editorial — a white, content-forward canvas that puts the work first, built to go wide so more pieces show per screen. A 14-category sidebar for real browsing, live search across titles, brands, styles and fonts, and a responsive masonry grid where no two cards share a size (up to four columns on large screens). Click any piece and it opens into an immersive detail view — a full-page capture you can scroll, prev/next navigation, click-to-copy color swatches, and a "more like this" rail — all deep-linkable so a single piece is shareable. Featured and Sponsored placements are built in for the business model, with a newsletter to compound the audience. A pluggable Supabase backend powers the shared gallery, submissions and saves, with a graceful offline fallback. It reads sharp from phone to tablet to desktop.

Built and run solo

Loupe is mine end to end: I design it, build it, and run the curation and distribution myself. The thesis is deliberately simple — in a space the incumbents already own, the edge isn't the code, it's taste plus the metadata no one else bothers to capture. The product design is production-grade and live; curation and the distribution engine grow from here.
